Liner notes to the CD: ARTIST PROFILE: Cantrell Maryott A third-generation Arizonan and native Tucsonan, Cantrell Maryott is indeed an indigenous Sonoran Desert voice. She has been singing since the age of six in choirs, rock 'n' roll bands, folk and jazz ensembles, as well as vocalizing in the context of musical theater and modern dance. Cantrell has performed in the USA, South America, and Europe. Her many and varied recordings include Verve, a live CD of jazz standards with grand piano accompaniment. ABOUT THE MUSIC Every song on her new CD- Moving, Not Leaving is different, showcasing the entire genre’s she has sung over the last 30 years, taking the listener on a complete journey. Moving, Not Leaving was recorded in Holland and Tucson with a stellar line up of veteran performers, with Dutch co writer Philippe Pfeiffer on acoustic guitars and Piano, Mitzi Cowell on most guitars, Larry Lee Lerma, Bass player for The Blues Brothers, Gary Mackender on drums and accordion, 3 time Grammy nominee Will Clipman on percussion, Catherine Zavala and Nancy McCallion of the Molly’s on background vocals, as well as Ramona Sweeny on vocals.
